What is Likhita Japa?
Likhita Japa is a meditative practice where you write a divine name or sacred mantra repetitively. The name/mantra is written thousands, lakhs or crores of times in a Japa book with devotion and mindfulness.
What are the benefits of Likhita Japa?
It helps strengthen your spiritual connection with the deity, invites divine blessings, brings positive energy, improves focus and attention, and brings peace and divine joy.
Who can participate?
Anyone can take part, regardless of age or prior experience.
Am I limited by a particular language or name?
You can choose any language and your ishta devata name or mantra. Please check the space available in the Japa book.
Where can I get the Japa books?
You can pick up a temple Japa book from the priest at the Southlake temple, 595 S Kimball Ave, Southlake, TX 76092, between 7pm and 8pm any day. Please contact Ramu Kolanuru garu at 848-327-7466 to confirm availability.
What if I want to use my own book?
You can use your own Japa book and can still register and offer completed books to the temple.
Do I still need to register if I use my own book?
Yes. Registration allows you the opportunity to place your Japa books underground in the limited area under the auspicious thoranam pillar inside the temple.
Is there a required count?
You may take a sankalpam for a count you can reasonably complete, or start without a fixed count and focus on devotion and concentration.
When do I need to offer the books?
The books are needed before the Prana Pratishtha. A specific timeline will be communicated closer to the date, planned for February/March 2027.
