What is the Divine Visit of Utsava Murthis to our homes?
A devotee family registers for a special visit where the Southlake priest brings Lord Venkateswara, Sridevi and Bhudevi Utsava Murthis to the devotee's home. Pooja, archana, chanting, sankirtana and arathi are performed with family participation.
Why is this considered a blessing?
In Hindu tradition, bringing Utsava Murthis home is considered a mahat bhagyam (divine spiritual honor). The arrival of the deities, chanting and pooja rituals are believed to cleanse negative energies and invite abundance, positive energy and harmony.
How do I prepare?
Arrange the basic pooja items listed on the temple website, wear traditional clothes, prepare a simple altar/rangoli if possible, and prepare simple prasadam for naivedyam.
What rituals are performed and how long does it take?
The process includes Sankalpam, kalasa pooja, Vishnu Sahasranama parayanam, Swamy ashtottara archana, sankirthana, mangala harathi and prasadam distribution. Expect around two and a half hours.
How do I pick up and return the Utsava Murthis?
They can be picked up from the Southlake temple the evening before. Pickup is between 7pm and 8pm; contact Ramu Kolanuru garu at 848-327-7466 to confirm availability. The Murthis may be returned after pooja or kept until evening for extended darshan and then returned with utmost respect and care.
